Makino’s new a61nx horizontal machining center provides mold manufacturers with the capabilities necessary to significantly improve productivity through reduced setups, secondary machine operations, polishing, fitting and spotting.
The a61nx’s 14,000-rpm high-speed, high-power spindle is well suited for a variety of operations in steel. Its direct-drive B-axis table enables spindle access to three sides of a part in a single setup for improved positioning accuracy and productivity.
The standard a61nx features a 730 mm (28.7 inches) X-axis, 650 mm (25.6 inches) Y-axis and extended Z-axis of 800 mm (31.5 inches), ideal for the production of mold lifters and slides. Its 60-tool-capacity automatic tool changer provides manufacturers with ample storage for a wide variety of tooling. The a61nx’s automatic pallet changer enables mold manufacturers to perform setups outside of the machine without interrupting the machine process, substantially reducing in non-cut times that cannot be achieved on a vertical machining center.
